Flash Gordon: Azora Regains Memory (08/24/1935)

Thrilling Strange World Adventures!!!

Unlike Buck Rogers, who began life as a pulp character, Flash Gordon made his first appearance in a comic strip in 1934. A year later, the strip was adapted into The Amazing Interplanetary Adventures of Flash Gordon, a 26 episode weekly radio serial. The series followed the strip very closely, amounting to a week-by-week adaptation of the Sunday strip for most of its run.

The Blue Beetle: Finesse In Diamonds (07/17/1940)

“Leaping down upon the underworld to smash gangland, comes the friend of the unfortunate, enemy of criminals, a mysterious all-powerful character. A problem to the police, but a crusader for law; in reality Dan Garrett, a rookie patrolman. Loved by everyone, but suspected by none of being The Blue Beetle. As The Blue Beetle, he hides behind a strange mask and a suit of impenetrable blue chain armor, flexible as silk but stronger than steel!”

Created in 1939, The Blue Beetle was adapted for radio in 1940. Radio and motion picture actor Frank Lovejoy was the voice of The Blue Beetle for the first 13 episodes.
